For the sixth straight year, Colfax High will be represented at the CIF State Cross Country Meet in Fresno. Thanks to a pair of superlative efforts from the school's girls team and from senior boys runner Nick Read, the Falcons' banner will be flying again at Woodward Park on Nov. 28. Running in last weekend's CIF Sac-Joaquin Section championship meet at Willow Hills near Folsom, the Colfax girls team came out of nowhere from the previous week's sub-section meet to place second overall as a team.

ALDERLEY Edge Hockey Club's men's first team left Leeds with all three points following a determined performance. The home side was well organised and played a very structured game against an Alderley side off the pace from the outset. Keeper James Riley was in the action early while resolute defending from Bryant and Badger helped stem the flow.

Alderley Edge Men's team kept up their fine form in North League One, with a 3-1 victory over Bolton. Alderley's early dominance was transferred into penalty corners rather than clear goalscoring opportunities with Bolton defending resolutely. It was a corner that gave Alderley the lead when the ball found it's way to Alex Morgan to fire home.
